What does Setupidity create?
Setupidity creates native Windows Installer (MSI) packages. The installer runs on Windows and works with standard Windows deployment tooling.
Where can I author and build an installer?
The project is designed to build from Windows, Linux, and macOS, including CI agents. Availability and currently supported functionality are recorded in the documentation. Building on a non-Windows host does not make the generated installer run on that host; its target is Windows.
Can I use an Individual license for paid work?
Yes. The USD 49 Individual license belongs to one named person and permits commercial, freelance, employment, education, open-project, and personal work. It can be used on that person’s computers and authorized build agents, but it cannot be shared or transferred to another person.
Who needs a Business license?
Choose the USD 99 Business license when a company, partnership, nonprofit, government body, or other legal organization owns the license. It covers any number of employees and contractors acting for that organization, with no seats, devices, or build agents to count. Separate legal organizations need separate licenses.
Is Setupidity a subscription?
No. Both licenses are one-time purchases with no renewal or recurring charge. You may keep using every version you legitimately receive.
Do updates expire?
No. Both licenses include every future update released while Setupidity continues to be developed and distributed. This is not a promise that product development or support will continue forever.
Are features different between the licenses?
No. Both licenses contain the same product. The only difference is whether the license belongs to one person or one legal organization.
Do CI runners or build servers need extra licenses?
No. A licensed person or organization may use any number of build agents for its own work.
Can I distribute the installers I create?
Yes. Generated installers may be distributed royalty-free. Their contents and the rights needed to distribute them remain your responsibility.
How will purchase and download access work?
Checkout is not open yet. Before sales begin, a successful purchase will provide a receipt, license file, and secure path to current downloads. A recovery flow will let customers regain access using the purchase email without revealing whether an arbitrary address has an account.
What support is included?
Both licenses receive the same best-effort product and purchase support, with no guaranteed response or resolution time. Support covers license delivery, downloads, documented behavior, and reproducible product defects; it does not include custom installer authoring, consulting, or guaranteed feature work. See Support for the right route and what to include.
What is the refund policy?
Both licenses will have a 30-day money-back guarantee in addition to mandatory rights under applicable law. See the refund policy for the pre-launch policy and remaining review work.
What should I check before buying?
Setupidity is still in development and cannot currently be purchased. Review the documentation for the supported authoring surface and known limitations. Code signing remains an external release step, and cross-platform authoring does not remove Windows-specific testing of the finished installer.
